We pride ourselves on making beginners feel welcome. Matrix Taekwondo is a member of the UTA which is one of the oldest Taekwondo groups in the UK headed by Master TW Shin 8th Dan. The United Taekwondo Association (UTA) is a full member of the British Taekwondo Control Board (BTCB) who is the National Governing body for WTF Taekwondo in the UK and is also part of the British Taekwondo Council (BTC). Other affiliations include the WTF, ETU and IOC. All our Instructors have passed a Criminal Records Bureau check and will show you their ID card when you first meet them.

Taekwondo is available to Boys and Girls, young and old. We can offer regular competitions to students who want to compete and we have regular coaching and referee courses.
Taekwondo is a Korean Martial Art that can improve your fitness and flexibility while you are learning to defend yourself. Taekwondo has the reputation of being the style with the best kicks. WTF Taekwondo and Judo are the only Martial Arts that are full Olympic sports. We welcome students of other martial arts especially students from ITF Taekwondo who would like to try WTF. sThe main difference between ITF and WTF Taekwondo is that ITF is Semi contact sparing and WTF is full contact sparing. We host the Anglo Welsh WTF Taekwondo Cup competition in Wrexham each year.

3rd Anglo-Welsh Taekwondo Cup (WTF) 2007

For the 3rd year Matrix Taekwondo hosted the Anglo-Welsh Taekwondo Cup. It was held as always at the Morgan Llwyd Sports Centre in Cefn Rd, Wrexham. Amongst the teams competing along with Matrix were Cobra, Halton, Impact, JM Taekwondo, Liverpool Elite, Liverpool Taekwondo Academy, Milton Keynes UTA, Shins Academy, Stoke UTA and all the way from Germany we had a team from the Sportschule Ertan Club who are based in Rottenburg near Stuttgart.

From Matrix we had Oliver Holmes, Manon Emmanuel, Jack Fenn, Elis Jones, Ruman Ahmed, James Perry, Sab Miah, Richard Ellison and Mike Dutton competing and all performed well winning more golds than silvers.

This year we had 2 rings for the first time and we would like to than Master Peter Hankin, Steve Jennings and Gary Hall for making this possible. As well as thanking all the players, coaches, parents and officials we would also like to thank Graham Preece, Ralf Goetz, Danielle Baker, Gemma Moore, Chan Sau, Jason and Mel Mayoh, Tony Plowright, Master Pete Johnson, Master Hankin and all the officials from LTA, Cath Webb and Julia Mason who all made the day possible with special mentions for the Wrexham division of the St. Johns Ambulance, Pauline from the Morgan Llwyd Sports Centre and Master Ertan from Germany who refereed 36 matches in a row!
