Matrix Olympic WTF Taekwondo opened in Sept 2003 at the Morgan Llwyd Sports Centre in Wrexham, North Wales. Now it also has branches at Penley in between Wrexham and Whitchurch, Rhyl in Denbighshire, Mold and Saltney in Flintshire near Chester.
We are the only Taekwondo Group in North Wales that do WTF Olympic Taekwondo.
Beginners are always welcome at our classes. We pride ourselves on making beginners feel welcome. Taekwondo is available to Boys and Girls, young and old. We can offer regular competitions to students who want to compete and we have regular coaching and referee courses. All our Instructors have passed a Criminal Records Bureau check and will show you their ID card when you first meet them. Beginners lessons are only £3.50 per evening with discounts for Families.
Taekwondo is a Korean Martial Art that can improve your fitness and flexibility while you are learning to defend yourself. Taekwondo has the reputation of being the style with the best kicks. WTF Taekwondo and Judo are the only Martial Arts that are full Olympic sports. We welcome students of other martial arts especially students from ITF Taekwondo or from Independent groups like the TAGB who would like to try the WTF Olympic style.
Matrix Taekwondo is a member of the WTA. The WTA is a full member of British Taekwondo, formerly known as the BTCB.
British Taekwondo (BTCB) was established in 1982 and is the Governing Body for World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) Taekwondo in the United Kingdom. British Taekwondo is a member of the WTF, British Olympic Association (BOA), the European Taekwondo (ETU) and recognised by UK Sport, the government agency for High Performance Sport.
British Taekwondo is responsible for all aspects of WTF/Olympic style taekwondo in the UK. This includes selecting National Teams to compete at the European and World Championships, the Commonwealth Games and the Olympic Games.

Matrix Sport in association with Matrix Taekwondo can offer one term programmes or 10 week courses to introduce Olympic Taekwondo to Children. We have programmes for Primary and Secondary Schools.
We are the only Taekwondo Group in North Wales that teach the WTF Olympic version of Taekwondo.
The programme is well suited for the 5 x 60 scheme and similar programmes.
Limited sessions are available for early morning classes, 7.50am to 8.50 am in Primary Schools.
We have also done courses for Youth Centres and Youth Groups.
