Matrix UTA Olympic WTF Taekwondo opened in Sept 2003 at the Morgan Llwyd Sports Centre in Wrexham, North Wales. Now it also has branches at Plas Madoc on the Llangollen Rd, Ruthin in Denbighshire and Saltney in Flintshire near Chester.

Beginners are always welcome at our classes. We pride ourselves on making beginners feel welcome. Taekwondo is available to Boys and Girls, young and old. We can offer regular competitions to students who want to compete and we have regular coaching and referee courses. All our Instructors have passed a Criminal Records Bureau check and will show you their ID card when you first meet them. Lessons are only £3.00 per evening with discounts for Families.

Taekwondo is a Korean Martial Art that can improve your fitness and flexibility while you are learning to defend yourself. Taekwondo has the reputation of being the style with the best kicks. WTF Taekwondo and Judo are the only Martial Arts that are full Olympic sports. We welcome students of other martial arts especially students from ITF Taekwondo or from Independent groups like the TAGB who would like to try the WTF Olympic style. We host the Anglo Welsh WTF Taekwondo Cup competition in Wrexham each year.

Matrix Taekwondo is a member of the UTA which is one of the oldest Taekwondo groups in the UK headed by Master TW Shin 8th Dan. The United Taekwondo Association (UTA) is a full member of the British Taekwondo Control Board (BTCB)

The British Taekwondo Control Board (BTCB) was established in 1982 and is the Governing Body for World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) Taekwondo in the United Kingdom. The BTCB is a member of the WTF, British Olympic Association (BOA), the European Taekwondo (ETU) and recognised by UK Sport, the government agency for High Performance Sport.

The BTCB is responsible for all aspects of WTF/Olympic style taekwondo in the UK. This includes selecting National Teams to compete at the European and World Championships, and the Olympic Games.
